I first became acquainted with early pianos
at Harvard, where I was very taken by Robert Levin's lectures and his
Mozart performances. Subsequently I studied historical performance
practice with Malcolm Bilson on a generous fellowship from Cornell University.
I have continued to perform as a fortepianist, both as a soloist and with the Aurelio Ensemble.

Below you can play an informative 10-minute video presentation, a crash course introduction to the
Viennese 5-octave fortepiano. It features information on history and construction and
is illustrated by short musical performances. (Video by SR Productions)
